Private Teaching
Emily is a sought-after private violin and viola teacher in West LA and Santa Monica, where she has a full studio of in-person and virtual private violin and viola students.
Teaching has always been a vital part of her artistic practice, and helping shape the next generation of young musicians is just as important to Emily as her own performance life.
In addition to participation in regular studio recitals, Emily also encourages her students to participate in extracurricular music ensembles to reap the benefits of the social interactions that music can provide. Her students have held leadership roles in local youth orchestras as well as in their school programs, and have been accepted into honor groups with CODA and SCSBOA, as well as admitted to the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts (LACHSA).
As a proponent of experiential learning and a musician with an interdisciplinary background, Emily loves to help her students find ways to connect music with their other interests. Additionally, Emily studied the Suzuki Method (Every Child Can! and Violin Unit 1) with teacher trainer Sherry Cadow of the Colburn School. She hopes to help her students grow into engaging musicians and kind people.
