Hi everyone – it’s been a while. More updates later as I’m about to hop on a plane, but just wanted to share this little holiday greeting that I recorded with Isaura String Quartet. (Yes, everything looks backwards because the computer flipped it around. Oops.) Happy holidays!
My friend and colleague Adam Wolf is raising money through Kickstarter for his band, Rock Horn Project. It is a rock band fronted by French horn, which is pretty unique. The funds raised will be used to record a cd of the tunes he has composed for the group. I’ll be contributing strings to the album. Check out this project and if you’re feeling generous, donate a few dollars! Any amount between $1-10 will get you a digital download of the album once it is recorded.
Found a video of a performance from fall 2012 where I was concertmaster of the CalArts Orchestra. Very fun concert – great to play with bands of CalArtians!
Follow this link to hear Zirque Bonner’s Become the Sky (track 7), a work for string quartet that I recorded at Capitol Records with some friends/colleagues as part of the CalArts Jazz CD project. This is the first time that the project has included a recording of a piece for string quartet, which is exciting. It was an unforgettable experience to be able to record in such an amazing space and I’m grateful to Capitol and CalArts for making this project happen.
I had the pleasure of recording some violin (as a quartet member as well as solo) for four tracks on the new Baths record, Obsidian, which came out on May 28. The entire album is beautiful and I feel lucky to have been able to contribute in a small way to this record. Order the record and go see a show if you can – I can pretty much guarantee that you will have a LOT of fun.
Here’s a screenshot from video taken at my graduation recital. Now that I’ve finished that, I’m still preparing for a concert at REDCAT and an orchestra concert, as well as a performance with the CalArts Baroque Ensemble.
